Emptiness...

That flower is no flower devoid of fragrance
That heart is no heart devoid of you

Kings, Kitaabs and Kingdoms...

Imam Yusuf (ra) says:
"If Kings knew the pleasure we(referring to Ulama) get of reading Kitaabs(books), they would give away their Kingdoms"( Hashiya of tafseer Uthmani)
Explanantion:
Knowledge is very dear and valuable in the eyes of the ulama. The pleasure they feel from reading, learning and studying is unexplainable and it is such that if the kings were to ever feel this pleasure and love of reading, learning knowledge etc , then they would forfeit their kingdoms for it.

Sweet Madinah....

With the Hajj season drawing ever closer, my close and dear friend who was blessed with performing her first pilgrimage last year, was reminiscing over her trip.Oh how nostalgic it made me...
We looked through a few pictures she took and the above caught my attention. It was taken from her hotel window around dusk...The umbrellas are slowly opening to provide shade to the musallees of the Masjidun nabawi (saw)...
Ahhh  Madinah....

My wish is Madinah.
My heart is Madinah.
My shelter is Madinah.
My moon is Madinah.
My axis is Madinah.
My heaven is Madinah.

Tasbeeh or Istighfaar??

Ibn Al-Jawzee was once asked:"Is it better for me to make Tasbeeh (glorify Allah) or to make Istighfaar (seek forgiveness)?"
He replied, "The dirty robe is more in need of soap than perfume".

When my Lord says to me....

It is reported that one of the companions of Imam Ahmad recited the following poem to him. This caused the Imam to suddenly leave the gathering and enter his house where he could be heard reciting the first verse and weeping loudly. The students remarked that the imam cried so much that it was as though he would die.

May Allah grant me martyrdom in his path.
May he grant me death in the city of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)

Rights of our teachers...

I have seen that the biggest right upon a person, is the right of a teacher
And it is the one which deserves to be protected and safeguarded  the most upon a Muslim
How true it is that the person who has taught you one letter deserves that
you gift him a thousand dirham.
